A 1-year-old rescue dog named Maya may have confused herself for being something else. It seems like she has no idea she’s a dog. She associates herself as a human being but only a little different.
With this in mind, she taught herself human skills. She has learned to watch the TV properly and open doors. It’s not surprising she also knows how to hold grudges.
At first, Eleni Alafouzos, Maya’s mom, didn’t notice her dog’s behavior. She just let Maya be whoever she wants. She believes that every dog has something unique in them.
Maya is a smart cookie. She can easily pick on everything that takes place inside their house. Maya is very observant, too. That’s how she was able to learn from her humans quickly.
As time went by, she continued to copy her human family. Not long, she seems to have forgotten that she’s a dog.
Her first self-taught human skill is opening doors. She patiently practiced the skills and eventually got the hang of it. Since there are different doorknobs, she sometimes gets confused. But that did not stop her.
The next behavior she picked up from her human housemates is sleeping “properly.” She likes to sleep with a pillow on her head and a blanket on her body, just like humans do. For Maya, there is no other way of sleeping.
Lately, Maya started to enjoy the TV a little too much. Like human mom, her face lights up and changes emotion according to the show she’s watching. And just like some of us, Maya is also not fond of the news channel.
It’s not only the behavior that’s very human-like in Maya. She has also perfected the art of holding grudges whenever something or someone does her wrong. No treat in the world can appease her when she’s mad at you, not every her favorite one.
This only shows how much self-control she can muster when the time calls for it. She can even hold a grudge longer than most of us.
But no matter how many grudges she holds, she’ll always come around just like a human child. She makes peace and finally shows love for her family once more.
