All pet owners know how devastating it is to lose a pet whom they’ve dearly loved. Aside from the heartbreaking moment of knowing your pet went missing, it’s the nights of not knowing where they are, which definitely hit the most. This was the case for Bill, who owned a Beagle mix named Bosco.
Bosco was leashed in Bill’s backyard in Rhode Island when he managed to free himself. Bill tried to search for Bosco for months, but unfortunately, he was nowhere to be found. The fact that Bill had a disability also posed a challenge in the search for the lost pup.
Bill was heartbroken when he realized Bosco wasn’t getting found anytime sooner because he was also about to move to Colorado, which was thousands of miles away from Rhode Island.
Luckily, a volunteer from Missing Dogs of Massachusetts named Sheilah Graham found the lost pup nearly two years from when Bosco went missing. When she heard tips of a stray dog running around the neighborhood, she went where the dog was last seen to identify if it were a lost pup.
She set up a trap for the dog, and luckily, the pup went in the cage. Lo and behold, it was Bosco all along! Turns out, Bosco had been rummaging around restaurant dumpsters for two years in search of something to eat for his survival. The poor pup had no one to rely on except his survival instincts.
Sheilah quickly called Bill, putting the phone next to Bosco so Bill could hear him bark. Bill was absolutely stunned upon hearing Bosco’s voice, previously thinking this day wouldn’t come but it finally did.
Unfortunately, Bill’s disability prevented him from flying to Rhode Islang to pick up Bosco, and Bosco couldn’t be on a plane either because of his age. So it was up to Sheilah to reunite the two best of friends. She drove nearly 2,000 miles just to see Bill and Bosco’s reunion after two long years.
Thanks to Sheilah, Bill and Bosco are now catching up on a lot of stuff they missed out on! Discover more on the pair’s reunion with the video below.
